Penny Wise, Dollar Foolish.
Penny Wise, Dollar Foolish. Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later. You Get What You Pay For.
How many of us have heard these sayings? Nothing could be truer in the construction industry when it comes to pond stabilization of which is part of Stormwater Compliance on a project.
More often than not, a General Contractor will wait until construction is done before they concentrate their efforts on pond stabilization. The pond pictured below is on the backside of a newly constructed hotel. The hotel is completed, but the project cannot be closed out and handed to the owners until the pond is stabilized.
Or they do minimal grading, throw some grass seeds out and hope that mother nature takes care of it. Usually the only consideration taken is, ‘how cheap can we get it done’ (Penny Wise, Dollar Foolish).
This is a pond that a General Contractor spent an insurmountable amount of money on trying to stabilize. They graded and seeded the sides numerous times only to have torrential rains wash down on it creating these “reels” and washing away the seeds. After numerous attempts to do it themselves, they have given up and are seeking alternative solutions.
At Construction Eco Services, we take the time to educate our customers on the importance of doing it right the first time and not after you have expended thousands of dollars trying to “wing it” (Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later). It is the long term solution you are looking for and we at Construction EcoServices can provide that.
One of the most cost effective solutions we provide is Flexterra HP-FGM. It provides erosion control effectiveness, growth establishment and functional longevity. One of the key ingredients to a successful stabilization is the soil composition. We will take a soil sample, free of charge, from the sites location and send it off to a lab to be analyzed. This information is critical to success and allows us to properly put the right “mixture” together for the site specific application.
If the responsibility of a pond falls under your scope of work, know what you are getting into. Educate yourself; consult with the experts in the industry. Don’t be Penny Wise and Dollar Foolish, don’t waste your time and profits trying to do it yourself. Pay to do it right the first time. After all it is your reputation, we just want to help you keep it
