Does the Governor’s Executive Order Address Commercial and Multifamily Construction?

The Executive Order does not prohibit any type of construction from proceeding. The Executive Order plainly states that local orders cannot limit construction activities that are otherwise deemed essential by the Governor. If your local order permits construction to continue, then that local order is not changed by the Governor’s Order.

Basically, if an applicable local order restricts a type of construction that is deemed “essential” under the Executive Order, then that construction can also proceed despite the local order’s restriction.

Permeable pavement has become a common Green Infrastructure (GI) practice in New Orleans and other parts of Southeast Louisiana. Usually, permeable pavement is installed in parking stalls and only captures, stores and treats stormwater that falls directly on it. While this is a great application of GI to minimize runoff and reduce flooding, it doesn’t capture the real value of permeable pavement. Besides being used for capturing rainfall, CES has proved that permeable pavement can serve the same function as a drainage inlet, detention pond and a water quality unit. For this to happen there are certain criteria that permeable pavement must meet.
