The Shape Of Water, Starring AWWA’s Tracy Mehan
wateronline.com
If water-industry superstars were celebrated like entertainers, an introduction to G. Tracy Mehan III wouldn’t be necessary. But water, as industry veterans know, doesn’t quite get the attention it deserves … until services are threatened. At that point, as all along, we turn to our water leaders for answers, which is why I contacted Mehan for this Q&A.
Green Streets Handbook
epa.gov
This handbook is intended to help state and local transportation agencies, municipal officials, designers, stakeholders and others to select, design and implement site design strategies and green infrastructure practices for roads, alleys and parking lots. The document provides background information on street and road typologies and offers a programmatic framework to use when identifying areas that can be initially designed or later retrofitted with green infrastructure practices or systems.
Hydroinformatics 101: Intro To Water Optimization And Efficiency
wateronline.com
With challenges surrounding water availability, water quality, and water-related natural disasters set to increase in the near future, the time has come for utility managers to think smarter about water. This unique and relatively untapped discipline can transform utility operations by prescribing cost-effective and adaptive solutions that level the playing field and solve the world’s most complex water challenges.

Featured Product
An Alternative to Soiltac
The innovative product is a biodegradable, copolymer-based dispersion that is primarily designed to control dust and erosion. Gorilla-Snot is comprised of long, nanoparticle molecular structures that link and cross-link together to form strong bonds between particulates, soils and aggregates. The solution is designed to be easily applied topically to almost any soil or aggregate. A modest application will create a light surface crust that remains water permeable for air and water, yet perfect for controlling dust and suppressing PM10 and PM2.5 particulate matter to maintain air quality and visibility. Increased applications of Gorilla-Snot are highly effective for roads and other traffic areas. The product is engineered to penetrate into the ground creating a strong and resilient, yet flexible, surface wear course that can withstand the intense abuse of vehicle traffic and environmental conditions.

Contractor’s #1 Compliance Concern
No, it’s not Doc! John Q Public is a Contractor’s biggest concern.
The Clean Water Act is designed for citizen lawsuits.
CWA was intended to spur citizen participation in oversight of environmental concerns. Think about the requirement that signage with operator permits must be posted prominently, visible by the public.
Enforcement personnel operate under mandates for rapid response to complaints.
Citizen complaints generate the majority of enforcement investigations and complaints are moved to the front of the line for enforcement response.
The TCEQ Compliance History Database
The TCEQ Compliance History Database is updated September 1 of each year, and is based on the operator’s compliance history for the previous five years. The resulting rating is, intended as, a measure of the contractor’s environmental compliance. The rating may impact a contractor’s ability to get future work or a new permit.

Biofiltration System Looking Great After 1-Year
Maintenance is common concern with many stormwater solutions, certainly living biofiltration systems. But, occasional cleaning and changing of the top layer of mulch is all it really takes to keep biofiltration systems like FocalPoint looking beautiful. Here, a 7-Eleven in Frisco, TX is still looking amazing well over a year later. Not only is it a value-add towards the beautification of the property, but the system itself continues to perform great!
