3-Alarm Disaster of a Detention Pond Gets Remediated
Fire Department looks to the Construction EcoServices and Jacobs Engineering team to renovate their detention pond and bring it back to fully operational status.
...Our Slope Stabilization and Turf Establishment products and services are proven to surpass all hydraulically applied mulch products and temporary erosion control blankets, and have led a movement toward more cost-efficient and effective hydraulically-applied techniques. We utilize the finest hydraulically applied products and technologies available, focusing on creating a healthy, sustainable stand of grass that resists erosion, enhances property value and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
Our topsoil alternative product is designed to accelerate the development of depleted soils/substrates with low organic matter, low nutrient levels and limited biological activity. In addition, this Biotic Soil Media provides an abundant source of organic matter and soil building components to quickly modify soil chemistry, and establish vegetation that lasts.
Construction EcoServices has adopted Five Fundamental Practices as the surest way achieve these objectives. Integrating them into a process that entails proper planning, documentation and execution ensures success on the projects we undertake.
Soil testing provides essential information to determine what adjustments, if any, need to be made to assure a more favorable growing environment for faster, more complete vegetative growth and sustainable establishment.
Construction EcoServices provides FREE soil testing to help our clients create the foundation for a successful project.
It is essential to select plant species that are adapted to project locations, site conditions, intended use, project seasonality and maintenance requirements. CES and its suppliers can put clients in touch with agronomy experts who are qualified to help select the right plant species to meet the needs of their projects.
The right cover is necessary to protect both seed and soil, considering the erosion control product’s effectiveness, ability to facilitate growth and the functional longevity required for that protection. Our supplier, Profile Products is the leading supplier of hydraulically applied erosion control technologies, erosion control blankets and turf reinforcement mats; and as a result, is experienced in helping you balance natural variables and product attributes to effectively achieve project success.
Installing the agronomic additives and erosion control products in accordance with the manufacturer’s mixing and application guidelines will maximize their performance to meet project requirements. CES and our suppliers provide on-site consultation to assure the products selected are properly installed in accordance with all guidelines.
Continually monitoring how projects are progressing is the best way to make sure all site requirements and compliance issues are being addressed. Maintenance may be required to mitigate unexpected challenges. CES professionals can coordinate all inspections. Subsequent inspections can be arranged, and maintenance activities conducted after significant precipitation or other potentially damaging weather events.

...It was the flood water forces resulting from Hurricane Harvey that damaged both the hillside and building to the extent that the building needed to be closed.
...The LID solution nearly eliminate a detention pond and in the process gained three additional lots, or 15% more homes
...Our approach is to think beyond an initial stand of grass, as we feel it is the best interest to the property owner that a proper solution should be slope stabilization and turf establishment that is sustainable. This can certainly be achieved, but requires some investigation and planning. And while somewhat more costly, a more holistic approach to stabilization challenges can consistently yield an outcome that enhances property value and is more environmentally responsible.

Stormwater management may seem like a relatively new industry, but it has actually been around since the Roman times. They knew, even back then, that managing stormwater runoff was a key issue to urban living. With poor stormwater management, both flooding and disease constantly wreaked havoc in ancient cities.
Not much has changed since then, except now, with more and more of the earth being covered over with cement and other impervious surfaces, the negative effects of poor stormwater management have increased exponentially. Our natural water supplies are at risk due to pollution and their lack of ability to recharge. The flowing of our waterways are at risk from erosion, sediment build up, and trash. And, our marine life is at risk, from all the chemicals finding their way into bodies of water.
Some may see stormwater management as just another unnecessary and unwanted cost to construction projects or property ownership and management. But, understanding the negative effects that poor or no stormwater management is causing should be a concern to us all. It affects where we live and play. It affects our marine-based food supply. It affects our dwindling water supply.
We care. It is why we do what we do.
While the rest of the country focused on treating one inch of rainfall, we were pushing the limits and learning how to manage the largest storms by using Low Impact Development (LID) / Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) solutions. We believed that if we could develop LID / GSI solutions in a place like Houston Texas, we could make them work anywhere.
Not only have we succeeded, but we have the the data, the case studies, and the experiences to prove it.
Since 2005, the team at Construction EcoServices and it’s partners around the country have dedicated their work to both the big discoveries and the small, that have drastically improved the performance and reliability of Low Impact Development. Collectively, they have been compiled here on this site, so that you may take advantage of the knowledge that has come from our success and failures.
I believe I started using your firm back in 2004/05, and haven’t ever regretted that decision.
